It’s been a surprisingly busy couple of nights!

Had a long-overdue reunion with Alexander Michael’s on Tuesday night.  My, had I missed it… It’s unfortunate that it took me being an ASS (see my previous blog entry for vague details) to prompt my return, but whatever.  Al Mike’s exceeded expectations, as per usual.  I attempted to try out the “trivia night” (one person called it “pop quiz night”) at Ri-Ra Irish Pub, but discovered the tables were apparently all reserved.  Note to self… CALL AHEAD to reserve a table!

Last night I met up with a bunch of friends for Tropic Thunder.  The movie was very funny, as I’d been told… I walked in there with my doubts, and walked out with a grin on my face.  Ben Stiller brought the level of performance you’d expect.  Jack Black toned down his normal insanity for most of the film, which was a pleasant surprise.  And Robert Downey, Jr. has clearly made one hell of a comeback in recent years.  Between Iron Man and this, he’s really bringing his A-game!  If you do decide to check out the film, be sure to get there in time for the very first few minutes.  I won’t ruin it, but there are cameos that will rock your world.

Danny was able to score some free tickets to a sneak preview of “Hamlet 2″ tonight.  Go Danny!  The movie was good, but strangely not in quite the way I expected.  I don’t want to say too much, since I know there are a bunch of people excited about seeing it… I’ll just say it’s very funny, and entertaining in a number of different ways.  Go see it if you get the chance.

Tomorrow it appears that I’m going to see “Educating Rita” in a last-minute theatre plan. I hadn’t planned on seeing it, frankly, as the advertisements didn’t really blow my skirt up… But I’ve talked to a few people who have seen it, and they spoke highly of it.  Plus, free tickets and good company, so it’s hard to argue with that.  I’m sure you’ll hear all about it from me over the next few days — but this is its last weekend, so by the time I give you a review it’ll probably be post-mortem.

And Saturday?  Cirque du Soleil’s “Delirium” at the Northlake Theater at noon.

Did I mention that Delirium was coming to the big screen this weekend?
