Vacations

This vacation to Miami Beach has, compared to other vacations (or “adventures” as I often call them) been BORING. We haven’t gone out and done any activities, we haven’t gone out to any bars, we haven’t even gotten a mile away from the resort. We’ve done absolutely NOTHING.

I love it.

Like I mentioned before, normally I’m planning out stuff to do on trips. I think we’re going to do ONE activity, and that’s an airboat ride through the swamps in the Everglades. We may go up to the Hard Rock casino and restaurant tonight to meet up with some peeps. That’s about the extent of our planning, and that’s on Day Five.

So what’ve we done so far? We’ve spent large chunks of the day at the beach, as evidenced by my sunburn — curse you, inconsistent application of sunscreen! We’ve exploited the pool and the hot tub as if they were there for solely for our own private enjoyment. Many of my oldest friends would be SHOCKED at how much time I’ve spent outside on this trip.

We’ve also had slumber parties in one of our rooms where we’ve cracked open some beer and wine, then played cards and watched DVDs. We’ve gone through a couple of movies, taught some of our group how to play “Bullshit” (both the regular and drinking varieties) and allegedly played “Truth or Dare” but really just had in depth conversations.

It’s really been an incredibly relaxing trip. I never knew floating in an inner tube on the ocean could be so blissful. I’ve never had such good Cuban food, and would never have guessed how good sushi made by a Latino chef would be. And I’ve certainly never been so well rested in my adult life.

It’s hard to believe we still have three full days left on this trip… This full-week vacation thing ain’t so bad after all!
