I watched the movie “The Ugly Truth” today, quite unintentionally. I arrived at the theater expecting to see a different film, but discovered at the last minute that it was sold out. “The Ugly Truth” was an impromptu Plan B.
It turned out to be a pleasant surprise.
I’d heard less-than-stellar things about it, so I went in with apprehension. Maybe that helped – I thought the movie was funny, heartwarming, and at times just short of shocking.
It was predictable, sure, but these days what romantic comedy isn’t? Though it stuck to the standard formula, it was nonetheless entertaining and well worth the time and money.
Check it out when you’ve got a few hours to kill, particularly if you’re looking for a good date movie. Don’t be heartbroken, though, if you have to wait for DVD.
