Okay, so I mentioned in my last post that I was considering spending Thanksgiving in New York City, among other possibilities… Naturally if we go up to NYC, we’ll try to squeeze a show or two into the mix while we’re up there. I’m a big fan of theatre, and Sal is a professional actor (I love being able to say that), so we obviously want to exploit any opportunity to check out new things on Broadway. At first Billy Elliot was the only must-see thing that came to mind, but then I did a little research and discovered something.
Carrie Fisher, the woman who played Princess Leia in the original Star Wars trilogy, has a one-woman show on Broadway called Wishful Drinking. Based on her autobiography, she rants and raves about being an alcoholic, manic-depressive actress with a cocaine habit.

Seriously, it’s not outside the realm of possibilities that I might get on a plane JUST TO SEE THIS SHOW, Thanksgiving or no Thanksgiving. My inner geek just shrieked and hopped up and down so fast he got dizzy and fell over.
And yes, what my inner geek did in the first metaphor I typed was really crude, so I edited in case my boss sees this.
My old roomie Michael is the company manager on that show. I might be able to get free tickets.
I saw the promos for that when I was up this summer. I need to see if it’s going while I’m up in Oct – I agree with you Kevin, this is a not to miss!
Pssst! It was off Broadway for months and way cheaper before the tour!!
Well god damn it, Erin, IT’S TOO LATE FOR THAT NOW!!
You are SO not invited.
