The Metrolina Theatre Association awards for the 2008/2009 season have come and gone. I’m very tired, and it’s after midnight on a “school night” so I certainly can’t devote the time and attention that I’d like to this post… But I know several people from outside of Charlotte will be wondering about the winners, since I’ve been talking the awards up so much for the past few weeks.
It was a good night.
The winner of “Best Supporting Actor – Male” in the Drama category was none other than Salvador Garcia, for his role as Marcus in Dangerous. Sal also won the “Emerging Artist of the Year” award, and the last two shows he performed in during the 2008/2009 season (The Full Monty and West Side Story) each won the “Best Production” award in their categories.
Additional details and photos will be forthcoming, but for now, I’m off to bed… Please consider this a warm “thank you” to all of Sal’s friends and supporters, and a hearty congratulations to all of tonight’s winners (especially the casts and crew of The Full Monty and West Side Story)
