Birthday surprise

I had my complaints about my 32nd birthday — there were great surprises and visits from friends in Charlotte and beyond, but there were also some major frustrations and disappointments — but I woke up this morning determined to make today a new day. I started work with a fresh attitude, was professionally productive, and even managed to finish off the M Street Thanksgiving leftovers.

And then tonight, my kind upstairs neighbors stopped by with the birthday present that Sal has apparently been cleverly hiding with them for quite some time. It is, to put it mildly, wonderful.

We’d seen this in a SkyMall catalogue on one of our trips together, and every time we’ve flown since then we’ve come across it and talked about how cool it would be to have in our home. Looks like Sal took the bull by the horns and got it for me, saving it for a special occasion. Like my birthday! 🙂 Take a peek:

Yes, the globe itself is beautiful. The fact that it’s on tiny subtle little wheels makes it great for a home like ours. And you saw correctly — it opens up to reveal a gorgeous interior, with places for glasses and bottles.

Oh yeah. It’s ON.

So help me out, faithful readers: what favorite beverages should I stock in this beauty? Reply below!

Update: For the record, he did NOT purchase this from SkyMall. He was just inspired by the one we saw there.

Saw one of these lovely lil’ gems in Drop Dead Gorgeous (circa 1996) — have you seen it? One of the best movies of all time!

WOW that is beautiful, and is perfect for your place! You must fill it with very old, very expensive single malt scotch. Or rum. Or brandy. Or whatever takes your fancy! Sal you rocked that one, Kevin you are one lucky SOB. Happy Birthday!
