The Facebook page for “Betty White to Host SNL (please?)” continues to become more and more popular… At the time of this posting, it has almost half a million fans and growing.
Those fans of Betty White and Saturday Night Live may get their wish after all.
According to EW.com and CNN, Saturday Night Live producers are reportedly looking at putting together a “Women of Comedy” episode, including Betty White and some key contributors like Molly Shannon, Tiny Fey, and Amy Poehler.
The benefit of this approach? It gives us Betty White in a major role on the show, co-hosting without requiring her to drive the full 90 minutes herself. Hosting SNL can be a daunting task for any performer, especially an 88-year-old one.
And as author Michael Ausiello says, “anything that gives Fey an opportunity to dust off her Sarah Palin impersonation — as she’s rumored to be considering — is OK with me.”
