Outlook for Mac

As someone who loves his MacBook but spends all day using Microsoft Office on a work-issued PC, I did a little gasp-and-swoon when I heard the news… At long last, Mac users will finally be able be able to purchase Outlook for Mac by the end of 2010.

I’m hugely excited, in a very geeky way.

For those that aren’t familiar, Outlook is a program that handles all of your email, address book/contacts, calendars, and to-do lists. In a typical big-business environment, it’s hugely important to your daily responsibilities, as it is crucial for communication and organization.

And in a Microsoft press release from August 2009, the big news was that the next version of Office for Mac will replace the current Entourage software with the coveted Outlook instead.

Of course, I’m excited at the notion that I can stop using separate Mac applications at home for calendar, mail, address book, etc… But that doesn’t mean I’m sold on it quite yet. There’s one crucial question that is the make-or-break for Outlook for Mac, for mean and probably thousands of other people:

Will the iPhone sync all of your information from Outlook for Mac correctly?

Fingers crossed!

Ewww! Use Mail.app, it fully integrates with Exchange. I use it at Wells and absolutely hate when I have to use Outlook on my Windows box.
