I already confessed my ridiculous plan to attend the opening day of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter exhibit. As I said, I’m not normally a big fan of theme parks, but when in Rome…
And that’s not all… We’re going on a theme park spree.
As if a day at Universal Orlando’s Islands of Adventure wasn’t enough madness, we’ll be hitting up Universal Citywalk later that evening, to get a nice taste of the night life. Having grown up in Cocoa Beach, I visited Citywalk from time to time in my late teens and early twenties, enjoying concerts at House of Blues, movies on the big stadium-seating movie theater (before those were commonplace) and once I was old enough, wandering around and making a drunken spectacle of myself. It’ll be a nice “blast from the past” evening.
The next day, we’re visiting the original Universal Studios theme park the following day. I honestly don’t remember the last time I’ve been to Universal Studios – I think I was 17 or 18. Apparently there’s a whole lot of new stuff to see there, with exhibits from many popular movies over the past decade.
And then a week later will be hitting up Epcot Center. And on the day we go to Epcot, we might hit up Disney’s Magic Kingdom and/or Hollywood Studios and/or Animal Kingdom, since the ticket we have is good for any of the Disney theme parks that day.
In case you were curious, this is why I’ve been declining invitations to things lately. The harsh reality of how much this is going to cost me has me trembling a bit. I think the folks at Cyanide & Happiness summed it up nicely:
