George Vogel vs. Westboro Baptist Church

George Vogel, a 62 year-old Omaha man, apparently shares my distain for those crazy fucks at the Westboro Baptist Church. He is accused of driving past a military funeral in Omaha, Nebraska with a can of pepper spray, and unloading it in the faces of the Westboro Baptist Church protesters outside.

I’m not one to condone violence, but I will say that I hope they got a good face-full of it.

Keep in mind, we’re talking about the nutjobs that go and protest at military funerals with signs saying things like, “Thank God for Dead Soldiers” and “AIDS Cures Fags.” If ANYONE deserves a great big chemical “fuck you” in the eyes, it’s these clowns.

Unfortunately, Mr. Vogel’s aim may not have been exactly precise. It’s not clear at this time whether the Westboro Baptist Church folks were the only ones hit by his attack — Omaha Police Dept. spokesman Michael Pecha couldn’t confirm whether any of the 16 victims were WBC protesters, counter-protesters that were present, or a combination of the two.

The possibility that innocent counter-protesters — there to peacefully denounce the Westboro Baptist Church fuckers — may have themselves been hit by pepper spray is what bothers me. That, and the fact that Vogel’s child was in the truck, exposing an innocent youth to inappropriate behavior on both sides (and the possibility of some spray accidentally hitting the child, too.)

You can read about the incident online if you’re interested in more details. In the mean time, let’s all remember not to stoop to the level of hateful douchebags like the Westboro Baptist Church, or to give them any legitimate reason to complain about people behaving indecently towards them in return.

I am sure that Jesus was standing there beside them. Don’t these people know what hypocrisy is? They deserved what they got. These men and women have fought and died for our freedom and all these “Christians” can do is make it hard on the families that are grieving. The people deserved what they got. Mr. Vogel was just protesting. Doesn’t he have the right to protest the “Christians”? I’m glad that the God that I look up to is not the same one as these people. Jesus, according to the bible never protested against the deceased or anyone else. He only helped people, even when they didn’t see it his way. It is sad that church’s have made everything political and have nothing but hate in their hearts. Wait till someone is protesting someone in their family passing away. I’m sure the “FEW” that are really Christians will not be offended by this. Just the ones that use the Church as a place to fit in and think that they are doing the right thing. These people protesting are the true meaning of hypocrites. I wish that I would have driven by and done the same. I’m not condoning bad behavior but I think that if the people from this church are protesting, Mr. Vogel has the right to protest. No one was hurt. Thank you Mr. Vogel for standing up for the people who have chosen to die in order to protect my freedom. These people don’t have a clue. They are just idiots
