Let me start off by saying that I’m a sucker for Pixar’s series of animated films. A Bug’s Life, Monster’s Inc., Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, and WALL-E are all movies that I’ve adored, and Up is easily among my favorite movies of all time. But it all started with Toy Story… so imagine my delight when the third installment of the trilogy came to theaters last summer.
I loved, loved, loved Toy Story 3. It was everything I loved about Toy Story and Toy Story 2, taken to the next level… And it was a terrific way to wrap up the series.
I remember thinking three things about the movie after I first saw it:
- I’ve never had an animated kids comedy have me sitting on the edge of my seat, honestly frightened by the dramatic series of events that unfold in and around laugh-out-loud funny bits.
- I was delighted to discover that John Morris did the voice of Andy through all three films. The movies literally grew up with the boy who voiced the child in the first film. We all grew up with Andy.
- I can’t believe 3 reviewers out of 248 actually gave this a negative review, as compiled by Rotten Tomatoes. WHO THE HELL ARE THESE THREE LUNATICS?
Toy Story 3 was a wonderful film, the sort of movie you can watch over and over again with a smile on your face. I wouldn’t say it was the best movie of the year, but I’m glad to see it honored with a nomination for one of the ten best. Well done, Pixar.
