The Catholic church is so upset about the same-sex marriage legislation in New York that one bishop in particular is refusing to accept donations from any politician who supported it… Even if the donation was made to a school.
Yes, you read that right. Brooklyn Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio has directed all Catholic schools in his jurisdiction “to refuse any distinction or honors bestowed upon them this year by the governor or any member of the legislature who voted to support this legislation” and has even refused to allow them to “speak or be present at any parish or school celebration.”
I mean, whoa. They sure do have a big issue with same-sex marriage, don’t they? Way to pick one single issue and really put all your weight behind it.
Still, kudos to the church for standing its ground on issues of morality and ethics… even to the point that they’re giving up money that might have eventually helped to pay for massive court settlements with the innocent children that their priests molest.
