On July 30th, “The Gays” are invading the U.S. National Whitewater Center. Consider yourself warned.
“Gay Splash Day” is being organized by the folks at Pride Charlotte, as one of several events leading up to the Pride Charlotte festival at the end of August. I’m about 2/3 excited and 1/3 terrified.
The organizers of “Gay Splash Day” have arranged for discounts on the big day:
AllSport Passes, Canopy Tour Passes and raft reservations are available for special discounted prices via Pride Charlotte’s Whitewater Center group page.
Purchase site: https://store.usnwc.org/ecom2/GrpLogin.aspx
Password: Whitewater (password is case-sensitive, so don’t forget the capital “W”)
And in keeping with my joyous adoration of the River Jam series throughout the summer, I’m delighted to announce that there will be live music playing that afternoon:
Local band One Night Stand will play a special concert just for Pride Charlotte Whitewater attendees! Visit us near the stage at the Center’s River’s Edge Bar & Grill for food, drink and song from 2-6 p.m.
If you do plan to come out to “Gay Splash Day” (whether you’re lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, or a straight ally) you can sign up on the Facebook event. And if you’re really feeling supportive, here’s a request from the event organizers:
Stand up. Stand out. Stand Proud! When you visit the Whitewater Center on July 30, wear a red T-shirt and let the world know you’re with Pride Charlotte. Be sure to drop by our information table at the River’s Edge Bar & Grill for more info on this year’s Pride Charlotte festivities.
Hope you can join me!
